End Binge Eating Newsletter
April 16, 2007
Happy Spring everyone!
I decided to "spice" this newsletter up with some recent photos. Last week my boyfriend and I went to Boca Raton Florida for
business, but we were able to sneak away for a day to do some exploring. :) I hope you enjoy the pics!
With spring here, I’m sure that many of you have started spring cleaning or at least you’ve thought about it. Aside from
doing a little cleaning, why don’t focus on making the rest of this month about you. What can you do for yourself to “cleanse” you
and make your life a little easier to manage?
Many of my days are spent inside, working on my new eBook in my lounge clothes. Let me tell you a little about my new
eBook. It will not only be about my personal experience with Binge Eating Disorder. Instead, it will be filled with stories
from people like you. People that have struggled with binge eating and people that have successfully overcome it.
When I was doing research for my first eBook, I thought that it would be so helpful to read stories from other people that were
struggling or had overcome binge eating, but I couldn’t find much. I hope you are as excited as I am about all of the new information
and stories that you will find in my new eBook! Keep reading my newsletters for more information on when it will come out!
Since I’ve been working so hard, I’ve been thinking about what I can do for myself to relieve stress and have a clear mind so that
I can be productive in my writing. Here’s what I’ve come up with (and I hope each one of you takes advantage of this): Spa
Week! What exactly is spa week, you ask? Well, it is a week in which over 300 spas offer a variety of spa services for only
$50. It is April 16 – 22, so make sure you schedule your appointment now! Yes, you read the above sentence right: Fifty
dollars. How great is that for your mental health (and not to mention your bank account)? Are you as excited as I am about
this?
Here’s the link so that you can see if your city is participating in this fun: http://www.spaweek.org Unfortunately, Houston is not included in this offer, so you can understand how excited I am that I will be in Chicago
during spa week and Chicago is participating!
Perhaps you are thinking: OK Kristin, going to a spa sounds fun, but… How is that going to help me with binge eating? Well,
from experience, I binged when I felt the absolute worst about myself. I didn’t have a good self-esteem, as many of you
know, so I would eat and eat… and eat. When I started to do little activities that made me happy, I didn’t binge as much. I was
fulfilling an inner need and it helped so much. Do you see where I’m going with this?
Now, I don’t know about you, but when I go to a spa I immediately feel relaxed and very calm when I walk in the doors. I
believe that if you take some time to pamper yourself, your self-value will go up dramatically and it will help curb a binge, at least in
that moment. Just close your eyes and imagine being pampered. You release any stress or anxiety that you have due to bingeing
and you just focus on feeling good in that moment.
I just have to ask: When’s the last time that you did something for yourself?
Now that you see how you can benefit, I bet the next thing that you will worry about is the cost. Like I mentioned, many spa
services are only $50. Maybe that is a little steep for you… so let me ask you again… Could you give up your weekly latte to
pay for some pampering? What about budgeting for a spa treatment instead of going out to dinner? You can cut corners in many
areas, and aren’t you worth it?? Honestly if going to a spa will help you feel better about yourself, how much is that worth to
you? Indulge in yourself for once!
Finally, make sure that you pick a spa service that will make you feel good about yourself. Don’t pick a full body massage
if you will obsess over someone else seeing your naked self. Instead, pick a facial or reflexology for your feet. Remember the
idea here is to feel good about yourself, not to have worries that will hinder you from enjoying the experience.
One last thing to remember: Have fun and enjoy every minute of it!!
I believe in you!
