End Binge Eating Newsletter
Dear friends,
This past week I’ve received many emails asking me how I overcame binge eating disorder. Many
people (myself included) wish that it was an easier process than it is. The truth of the matter is that it is a process and takes
time, along with small steps to get your desired goal of no more binge eating.
I was looking through some of my past newsletters and just wanted to remind you of a saying that really helped me. For some, you
might recognize this, but there are a lot of newbie’s that have joined my newsletter and haven’t yet heard this.
I get so many emails from people saying that they have completely stopped eating their own trigger foods, started to exercise for
2 hours a day, and when they can’t keep up this behavior, they end up bingeing. I understand their frustration. Believe me, I was once
there.
It’s just impossible (and quite crazy) to try to change everything in your life all at once. I mean, these are huge changes! One
day you binge and don’t exercise, and the next day you limit yourself to only fruit and veggies and spend 2 hours at the gym. This method
isn’t building a strong foundation… Sadly, it is setting you up to binge even more and become further away from your goal.
Small Hinges Open Big Doors
I think this little saying is so incredibly important. No one can change overnight; it takes time. The reason for this is
because small things need to be added or tweaked in your life so that you can achieve your overall big result. Obviously doors are big, but
what make them work are the small hinges. Without these, doors would simply not open. So, what do doors have to do with your binge
eating?
Well, doors have nothing to do with our bingeing. J It’s the meaning behind it that gives us insight. It is exactly how I overcame
binge eating. I made little changes in my life and ultimately they produced big results. Many people think that to achieve anything big in
life drastic measures are needed.
I’m here to tell you that is absolutely, positively NOT the way it works with binge eating. For whatever reason you have
turned to food for comfort for many years, so do you really think that it is possible for you to incorporate a huge change in your life and
actually stick to it when you’ve been doing the opposite for so long? NO! Instead you are setting yourself up for failure because the
change is so far out of reach.
This next week try to incorporate small changes in your life. Take a look at your life and see what things you can tweak and/or
add to your life for a huge improvement. Small changes can be: buying a notebook and journaling about your feelings, keeping a food diary
of the times that you binge and the times that you don’t and how you feel, reaching out for support, learning to release any built up
stress by exercising, reaching for a piece of fruit to satisfy your sugar craving instead of candy, etc.
Pick one small thing that you can do for the next week and try your best to stick to it. Then next week, pick another and keep
building on this. Really just add one new thing to your life – you don’t want to end up overwhelming yourself!
It takes little changes in your life to ultimately conquer binge eating. Little things will add up, one by one and produce BIG
results. Without small hinges on a door, it simply would not open.
See what changes you can add to your life. See what you can tweak. Most importantly, keep in mind that it is little things that
will help you get to your final result!
I believe in you!
